Good Morning,
Thank you for choosing to start your Tuesday with a Chooseday mindset.
This Chooseday, we're choosing to be Kids again because life is just more fun and simple! We get to live in the moment and enjoy ourselves without being critical or having to second guess our motives or the intention of others. Wouldn't it feel so LIBERATING to just forget about our responsibilities and commitments just for a short while - whether it's for an hour or for a whole day? Being a kid again is so significant that there's actually "Be a Kid again day" in the US that falls on July 8th in 2023. But why is letting ourselves be kids again so important and beneficial for our health? Kids inadvertently teach us to be happy, contented and just enjoy the moments. Being a child at heart literally helps our heart as a study on the implications of being ‘psychologically young’ found that people were 30% less likely to die of heart disease than pessimists. If you have young kids or have observed how kids behave, you'll notice that they don't worry about the past or future. Instead, they live for everything in the present with almost no worries and appreciate what they have. It's hard to not feel envious of them, sometimes! So let's indulge in our inner kiddo by being curious, asking questions, trying new things, laughing at silly jokes and believe we can achieve anything we want without thinking about the "what if's", or the "but"'s. We will discover so much more about our adult selves if we let loose and be kids again. Happy KID-ding around!
Yes, we love being kids again but as adults, we have the power and resources to help kids in need. Check out some of the amazing charities and causes on our platforms that work hard to ensure better health and futures for children.
Children's Ground
The charity works with a community over the course of a generation, led by local expertise, vision and intelligence. It creates and delivers a system of programs and services that are centred on learning, development and wellbeing that respond to the main life-stages and key transition points from pre-birth to young adulthood.
Help Sri Lankan kids
Sri Lanka is suffering from a major economic and energy crisis and more than 6 million children are expected to be impacted by this worsening crisis. UNICEF Australia will use donations and fundraising to help its teams on the ground deliver life-saving supplies including: therapeutic food to treat malnutrition, food vouchers for pregnant and lactating mothers, maternity and neonatal kits.
Kids in the Burns unit (Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation)
The Burns Unit at The Children's Hospital at Westmead is the paediatric component of the NSW Severe Burn Injury Service. It is the referral Unit for all major paediatric burns in NSW.
The philosophy of the Unit is to provide the highest standard of burn injury care to the child and their family, both during and after hospital treatment.
