GoodCompany Awards 2024 - Winners Announced! 🏆

😇 GoodCompany, Australia's leading platform for workplace giving, volunteering, and charity support, is thrilled to unveil the GoodCompany Awards 2024. Leading the pack this year, once again, is Origin Energy, followed in close pursuit by Your Creative, Mirvac, Insignia, and Optus.

“Origin is incredibly proud to be named the Good Company award winner for the second year running, in recognition of our workplace giving, volunteering and charity support” said Head of the Origin Energy Foundation, Michelle Zahra.
“This is testament to the work our people do giving back to the community every day, including volunteering through the Origin Energy Foundation where our people gave over 8,700 hours of their time during FY24, and by supporting good causes through our matched giving program.
“Congratulations to the team, our dedicated volunteers, partners and all organisations committed to supporting communities.

This year, as well as in 2023, GoodCompany used AI to rank companies based on their CSR programs that empower employees to give back to the community. 🚀The evaluation considered factors such as volunteer leave, volunteer budgets, payroll and matched donations, and other pro-social policies.

Key Insights from 2024 Rankings:

📊 Payroll Giving Trends:

77% of companies now offer payroll giving, reflecting a 26% increase from last year. This shows growing company commitment to regular, sustainable employee giving, making charitable involvement easier and strengthening long-term support.

❤️ Charity Choice Preferences:

64% of companies now offer an "OPEN CHOICE" model for charity selection, up from 50% two years ago, reflecting a 7.58% growth. "CLOSED CHOICE" programs have dropped to 35%, highlighting a shift toward more personalized CSR initiatives that boost employee engagement.

🔄 Matched Giving:

75% of companies provide matched giving, with 30% offering uncapped matching, continuing last year’s trend. This demonstrates a consistent commitment to supporting employee charitable donations.

🤝 Volunteering:

98% of companies offer paid volunteer leave, and 79% have dedicated budgets for team volunteering, up from 69% in 2023. This reflects a growing focus on social impact and team-building through volunteering initiatives.

🤲 Sponsorships:

Many organizations support diverse community programs, sports clubs, and charities, focusing on areas like education, health, First Nations, and climate resilience. Partnerships include Smiling Mind, YMCA, OzHarvest, and local sports clubs, with initiatives such as grants, scholarships, and disaster relief.

“We are thrilled to announce Origin Energy a back-to-back winner and to celebrate this year’s entire Top 40 Good Companies. In a challenging and often polarizing year, these outstanding companies have united their teams around impactful actions—volunteering, fundraising, donating, matching donations, and supporting the community. This spirit of generosity not only strengthens their workplace culture but also empowers them to attract, retain, and engage their people, all while making a positive difference in the communities they serve,” says Ash Rosshandler, CEO of GoodCompany.
